Ride For Kids Part 1
We went on the Second annual charity run for a children's hospital last weekend.
The starting line up and check in was at the Alamo Drafthouse and Theater. The ride included two different routes; one short route of 125 miles and one long route of 175 miles. Each route was set up like a scavenger hunt.
We had to find answers to a list of about 20 questions, for example; what is the name on the blue water tower on road 1957? and what is the factoid on the historical marker outside of the town Qhuihi?.

Holy Saturday Easter Vigil
The women saw how his body was laid; and they prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment. Luke 23:55,56
This day - Easter Eve - has an empty feel about it: suspended between the tragedy of Good Friday and the triumph of Easter Sunday.
This is the night, when all who believe in Christ are delivered from the gloom of sin, and are restored to grace and holiness of life.
This is the night, when Christ broke the bonds of death and hell, and rose victorious from the grave.
Thanks be to God.

St. Patrick's Day '06
For the past two years I have had the privilage of riding my motorcycle in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in San Antonio. A group of us "two wheelers" from work are the last in line, which is kinda funny because we are followed by two police cruisers with their lights flashing. It is a thrill to see all the children's faces light up as we pass them.

Vacation July 2005
Back in July of 2005 we went on vacation in Rockport, TX Rockport-Fulton . My little one caught her first fish, a piggy perch.
What is a trip to the beach without playing in the sand?

Amazing and U R A Texan
AMAZING - The "longer" you look at this picture, the "more" you see. (click picture to enlarge)
U R A Texan
U R A Texan If: 1. You can properly pronounce Corsicana, Palestine, Decatur, Wichita Falls, San Antonio, Burnet, Boerne, Nacogdoches, Mexia, Waco, Amarillo and Waxahachie.
2. A tornado warning siren is your signal to go out in the yard and look for a funnel.
3. You've ever had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.
4. You know that the true value of a parking space is not determined by the distance to the door, but by the availability of shade.
5. Stores don't have bags, they have sacks.
6. You see people wear overalls at funerals.
7. You measure distance in minutes.
8. Little Smokies are something you serve only for special occasions.
9. You go to the lake because you think it is like going to the ocean.
10. You listen to the weather forecast before picking out an outfit.
11. You know cowpies are not made of beef.
12. Someone you know has used a football schedule to plan their wedding date.
13. You have known someone who has had a belt buckle bigger than your fist.
14. You aren't surprised to find movie rental, ammunition, and bait all in the same store.
15. Your "place at the lake" has wheels under it.
16. A Mercedes Benz is not a status symbol; a Chevy 3500HD 4x4 Diesel is.
17. You know everything goes better with Ranch dressin'.
18. You learned how to shoot a gun before you learned how to multiply.
19. You actually understand this and you are "fixin' to" send it to your friends.
20. Finally, you are 100% Texan if you have ever heard this conversation:
"You wanna coke?" "Yeah." "What kind?" "Dr. Pepper"

Home Alone
Well here I sit Home Alone. The wife is on a business trip to California and the young one is at Granny's. My wife called me last night from the Grauman's Chinese Theatre Walk of Fame. She is out seeing the sites while I sit here eating a MAN'S meal, Pork Rinds and a Beer. Oh well, it is kind of nice with a quiet house but strange. You never realize how much goes on in the evening. I had the little one for a couple of days to myself. We went out to eat at Chili's on Monday and watched a rain shower pass. On Tuesday, she helped make dinner, spaghetti and sausage with green beans.

Large Earth Movers
My father works in open pit mining in South Texas. I guess that is where I got my love of large earth movers.
Most of the equipment he works around are Caterpillar Dozers, Scrapers, Track excavator , Motor Graders and Huge dump trucks.
The D-10 Dozer was one of the largest dozers he operated. It has about 700 horsepower.
Here is some equipment that is used in the large coal mines in Wyoming.
And one picture just for fun.

Work and Play
Normally in my job I tear down, clean up and rebuild heavy duty diesel engines.
Every once and awhile I get something different. One time we got a Bell Tractor to work on, it is capable of pulling three 17 cubic yard scraper buckets.
The tracks are an aftermarket add on I had to install but with a good fork lift it was not to bad.Life, of course, is not all work. Last year I went on a charity motorcycle ride for a children's hospital. There were about 70 of us. We headed out of San Antonio to Castroville via HWY 90. Once we were in Castroville, we headed up to Medina Lake then to Kerrville. We came back down Interstate 10 to the stopping point in Boerne for music and bar-b-que.
